A SIM card reader with a USB plug may be a good option for people who want to exchange information with their computers. With such a device, the user generally inserts his SIM card similar to the way he would do with a phone. Once this is done, he can plug the device into a computer. Then, depending on the device and its accompanying software, he may be able to perform numerous actions.

A USB SIM card reader can allow a user to import his contact information into programs such as Microsoft Outlook or other address books. For people who have a lot of contacts and who want an accessible backup, this may be one of the easiest options. These devices also commonly allow a person to manage the contact information on the SIM card. This means he may be able to search, delete, or create folders.

Some of these devices also give the user the ability to write to the SIM card. Instead of the user having to manually enter contact information and store it with a phone keypad, he may be able to do this from his computer. He may also be able to export information already stored on his computer to the SIM card.

There are also SIM card readers with recovery features that help people retrieve lost information. In some cases, the information may not be lost. It may have been deleted by one person, but with the right SIM card reader, another person is capable of retrieving it. This feature is often marketed to curious partners.

  • Where could one purchase a good sim card reader and writer, excluding online options. hyrax53 February 23, 2011 SIM card readers make it so much easier to put files onto your computer, especially things like photos from a camera. Before, I had to plug in my camera, wait for my computer to respond, and wait for the pictures to load. With a SIM card reader, I just take it out of the camera, slip it in, and my pictures are all loaded up in seconds. Post your comments Please enter the following code: Login: Forgot password? After you insert the SD card into the reader, your iPad or iPhone automatically opens the Photos app, which organizes your photos into Moments, Collections, and Years. And when you use iCloud Photo Library, all your full-resolution photos and videos are stored safely in iCloud and automatically added to the Photos app on all your devices. With iCloud Photo Sharing, you can share your photos and videos with just the people you choose.

Exact same thing happened to me, I took it to a shop but Samsung UK simply refused to ship the part to the shop I took it to here in California. Instead they shipped the shop a samsung galaxy sII skyrocket HD sim reader, which they said was the same part as the one in the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ GSM but when they installed it, the part was too wide and simply does not work. BTW the simreader is soldered so you would have to get a solder machine if you did get the part. I have emailed and called Samsung UK and it appears that the part is not common here in the US and that it is a narrow type sim reader. I'm still in process for them to let me ship the whole phone to the UK and have it repaired, but they have told me that they do not ship back Internationally, so Im in quit a bind... If anyone out there can help us get the part please tell us...

OK, maybe not a pukka fix but the same thing happened to me while on holiday. Samsung Nexus snapped Sim pin due to an adapter hooking on the pins. Solution: tin foil from a Rolo, made into a small plug that just fits into the slot over the pin. Hold it in place with a needle from a hotel sewing kit. Slide SIM card in over the tin foil. Been using the phone like this for the past three weeks. Writing this reply on the self same phone. Jerry-rigged perhaps, but a fix nonetheless.

Resinator, can you please tell me where in Germany I can send my phone for that kind of repairs? I have an Xperia play with the same issue (i broke my sim reader by inserting an empty micro sim adapter in it) I recently got the replacement part, but if it really costs 25 EUR to repair it, I would much rather send it to that shop than try to fix it myself with the risk of doing even more damage. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hello Everybody, The sim card reader seem to be popular these days, especially since the new micro sim came in. It's not putting it in but the migration form one phone to the other or different brands.

My Huawei had one of the middle contact legs broken so it didn't read the sim-card. After I tried using a tiny rolled tin-foil under the card as I inserted it back, it worked and am sorted thankfully to the tip...

Remove the SIM card tray from the slot. Keep it face up.Note: If the bumper is attached, the SIM card tray may not come all the way out. If this occurs, slightly insert the SIM ejector tool back into the hole for the SIM card tray, and then gently angle the tool and pull the tray all the way out. You might be able to grab the longer end of the SIM tray with your fingernails to remove it.

Surface Pro 7+ models have a SIM card or a microSD card slot in the same position on the device. The Surface Pro 7+ with LTE Advanced has a SIM tray, indicated by a small hole that ejects it. For other models, the microSD card slot doesn't have a cover and won't support a SIM card.

Every cell phone nowadays has a SIM card to make use of all the available options that it offers. I see that there are small SIM card readers, designed to read data from a cell phone SIM card (for backing up your phone book and SMS data). Since these use the same technology of smart cards (do they?) I was wondering if I could buy a small SIM card reader and cut my bank card to the correct size. 041b061a72
