The following products will work with this driver so check your USB Fast Ethernet from Realtek and see if it has the following chipsets in it from Realtek. Note also that this is a USB 2 driver and a bit of an older technology.

The following operating systems are supported by this driver so download the appropriate driver for your hardware and operating system. The files are large but should not take less than 3 minutes to download on a DSL connection.

You can download the USB 2.0 to 10/100m ethernet adapter driver below. This is a Windows 10 driver which comes in both the 32bit version for some reason as well as the 64bit version for Windows 10. Note that these are the older drivers from when Windows 10 hit the market and this is the 2016 driver with version 10.9.0504.2016. This is in realty a Realtek USB FE/GbE NIC Family Windows 10 64-bit driver.

Lets not forget the TP-LINK Gigabit Ethernet USB Adapter, as well as the USB 3.0 to Gigabit Adapter which is generic and finally the LG USB GbE Ethernet Adapter. You will notice that most of this hardware is very old. You will today mainly find them on the secondhand market. This driver was designed for them. If you want a more updated combination of all the operating system, then the last file in a very large file. That download is right at the bottom of the page.

To install this file which is a smaller 12MB file you will need to download this file and extract it on your computer. Once you have done this, simply go into the directory and then click on the install button. Your hardware will then be recognised and the driver installed for the hardware.

Download the driver below. You will notice that driver is the Windows 8 driver. This is the older driver version. You will need to extract the file as explained below. These have been the Realtek drivers. The driver file for this is very small. The more updated version or latest driver is right at the bottom of the page. That is the latest driver.

Much like the Windows 10 version the driver of the USB 2.0 to 10/100m Ethernet Adapter was used for the hardware as above. You can see that this is older hardware as this driver was released in 2016. You will need to extract the file and then go into the directory and click on the executable file. This will then install the Windows 8 driver onto your Windows 8 operating system.

This is the USB lan driver for Windows 7. This is a 8mb file which as you will note is the older driver from 2016. The device uses the RTL8152B driver which this is. This is from the Realtek USB FE/GbE NIC Family Windows 7 64bit devices which has been used in many devices. You can download the file below which is a Windows 7 driver. Download the file and extract the files. Inside the directory click on the setup file and the USB 2 10/100m ethernet adaptor driver for Windows 7 will install.

This is the Windows XP driver for the RTL8152BX or USB 2.0 10.100m ethernet adapter. Download the file and then extract the file. Go into the directory and click on the setup file. The driver will then install on your Windows XP system. This is also the same as the Glink USB 2.0 ethernet adapter driver. Search this website for more information on older hardware as this is a few years old. For Windows XP it is very difficult to get drivers. This even though there are still millions of computers running Windows XP.

The device cannot start (Code 10) is basically saying that Windows, for one reason or another, cannot communicate properly with one of your programs. This communication problem is usually caused by out-of-date, missing or corrupt device drivers. Error Code 10 usually relates to communication with 1394 devices which are generally connected via a Firewire or USB cable.

Gently open the box where the ethernet cable is plugged in and check the id above the chip. Search and download proper drivers from the manufacturer and enable it. There another collection of generic drivers available for this kind of device in this link.

Great post, thanks a lot.I had to walk through the last step and downloaded the driver for my MacBook Pro (late 2012) with High Sierra for AX88772B (in Goobay product USB 2.0 fast ethernet network converter, b.t.w. it says in system overview it is/has USB 3.0 bus) at =105&sub=driverdetailAnd it works!!! ?

Another common chip type in cheap USB Ethernet adapters is RealTek RTL815x. I had a spesific use case: the Ethernet port was dead in my old Mac (OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard), and I needed more USB ports. On the Mac, some information about the chips may be found with System Profiler, item USB. My adapter is LENTION 3 USB Port Hub + RJ45 Lan Adapter (USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100). The driver RealTek provides now (2019) is RTUNICv1.0.17. It does not work with Snow Leopard and/or chips in the adapter. An older version of RealTek driver is found and it works with Snow Leopard and the chips in the adapter, namely RTUNICv1.0.10 and v1.0.11

Because of the large number of available USB serial adapters, we cannot support these adapters and their drivers. Please always contact your vendor where you purchased the adapter, or the adaptor's manufacturer.

Since the adapter's manufacturers often only provide sparse information about OS compatibility of specific driver versions, we recommend to use the update to macOS Big Sur to also update your USB serial adapter's driver. Even in those cases where your current driver version seems to run under macOS Big Sur.

Historically, hardware drivers were developed as kernel extension oder "kext". This method has been deprecated since macOS Catalina (10.15) and Apple has provided newer methods to develop hardware drivers.

On Macs with Apple processors though, kernel extension can only be installed if the security policy on the startup disk is reduced. The installation of the driver will lead to a corresponding alert message. See:

ilink does not support you in the installation or use of drivers with reduced security policy on the startup disk. If in doubt, we recommend to wait with the switch to a Mac with Apple processor, until the vendor of your USB serial adapter has released an appropriate new driver.

A warning panel will pop up when the system tries to load the new driver for the first time. Depending on the driver this may be during driver installation, after the next system reboot, or when the USB serial adapter is first plugged in. At this time you will need to open System Preferences, select the Security & Privacy section, and click Allow.

You will only need to do this once. You may not have to do this at all if a previous version of the driver had already been installed on your computer before you upgraded to your current macOS release.

Since the adapter's manufacturers often only provide sparse information about OS compatibility of specific driver versions, we recommend to use the update to macOS Catalina to also update your USB serial adapter's driver. Even in those cases where your current driver version seems to run under macOS Catalina.
