Minnesota Timberwolves - Los Angeles Lakers - Video 4 ##BEST##
The Los Angeles Lakers finished off a short two-game road trip in Minnesota without Anthony Davis who was out with a calf injury. In AD’s absence, the Lakers needed plenty of help throughout the roster to get out with a win. Boy did they get it and then some!
Lake Show Life breaks down what else happened in Lake Show Life Lessons! The only Los Angeles Lakers extended post-game report with in-depth analysis and highlights.
It has been quite an eventful road trip for the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t it? On Saturday night, you couldn’t find too many basketball purists that believed that the Lake Show weren’t the heavy favorites to repeat as NBA champions. Then came Sunday night and the Anthony Davis’ calf strain.
Then came Monday and it looks like some are jumping off the Lakers championship cruise.

Can the Lakers still win the West if Anthony Davis is hurt? @JalenRose and @djacoby wouldn't bet on it. pic.twitter.com/wLpFB1U2TP
— Jalen & Jacoby (@JalenandJacoby) February 15, 2021

With Anthony Davis expected to be out through the All-Star break (Aka in reality, four to six weeks!) the Lakers supporting cast will be in the spotlight to prove if they can fill AD’s void on both ends of the floor.
They did so on this night against the Minnesota Timberwolves collaborating with near triple-double performance from LeBron James to win 112-104.
With or without Anthony Davis, the Lakers runs are still lethal. Two second-half surges put the young Wolves away.

They had an 8-2 run in the third quarter to get a small lead.
Then the Lakers dismissed Minnesota with a 17-5 run in the 4th to keep Minnesota at bay.

To be realistic, this was nothing but a possible trap game. The game the NBA world is looking forward to is on Thursday when the Lakers play the Brooklyn Nets for the first time this season with possibly their “Big 3” in Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden.
Before Lake Show Life gets into the “Lessons” post-game, Anthony Edwards, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, deserves a shoutout. He may not win NBA’s Rookie of the Year (Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball has the media attention and Sacramento’s Tyrese Haliburton is playing better!) but this guy can play.
He was the reason that the Timberwolves made a run late in the fourth quarter, but even though it wasn’t enough, he got the respect of LeBron James. he finished with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
To the new Los Angeles Lakers fans that are checking us out for the first time, welcome to Lake Show Life Lessons. Our extended post-game report with video analysis will cover the progress for the Los Angeles Lakers the entire season!
Over the next several pages we will provide highlights of certain players and coaches. Afterward, the comment section is loaded with knowledgeable fans adding their basketball knowledge. We usually start with the stars.
Let’s get to Lesson One to find out who!

Next: Lesson One

The Los Angeles Lakers need LeBron James to score…The King scored the ball!
Anthony Davis’ injury has opened up an avenue for LeBron James. What’s that avenue? The golden brick road to his 5th MVP award. Now LeBron James has something that Luka Doncic and Kevin Durant had in early MVP conversations…A storyline that leads to a feel-good story.

Luka Doncic was NBA’s global marketing tool. They were going ride his bubble performance in the playoffs into a media narrative. How strong was this going? Las Vegas gave him the odds.
Kevin Durant was the NBA comeback story. If he can get the Brooklyn Nets into title contention with league-leading stats, the media can use the age-old, “KD overcame all of the odds to get back to the court better than ever” schtick. Works every time.

See LeBron James might have won the MVP despite these odds. But if he lost, the voters could justify it with Anthony Davis as his partner in crime that would have diminished his chances. Well, those days are over.
LeBron James has a chance to make a serious run if he wants it. He played as he wanted it.

LeBron puts up 30 PTS, 13 REB, 7 AST and the @Lakers move to 22-7 on the season! #LakeShow pic.twitter.com/j19hwXUd0f
— NBA (@NBA) February 17, 2021

The question going forward will be if LeBron James can carry the scoring load while performing his normal list of duties. In this game, LeBron James looked like he was adapting to the new responsibilities quite well.
LeBron dropped 30 points (13-20 shooting!) while grabbing 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season James scored 30 points while finishing in double digits in boards. He also had 7 assists.
LeBron showed the perfect balance of efficiency getting the Lakers offense going with 13 points in the first quarter. More importantly, he knocked down 3-4 free throws. Doesn’t mean much here, but here’s where he can really take his scoring level up a few points.
Then in the second half, when the young Wolves started talking smack, he got really focused and the Lakers took off. Lake Show Life has a message to the rest of the NBA…leave the brother alone!
But there was one OOPS! OOPS! from LeBron in the game. Someone left the window open while LeBron shot this 3 point shot from the logo. Something that Portland Trail Blazers guard, CJ McCollum joked about on Twitter.
Look it happens. It’s good for everyone to know that LeBron shoots airballs like the rest of us.
Bottom line LeBron James did what was expected no matter how spectacular the stats are. Lake Show Life believes you are looking at the NBA’s MVP if he can keep the Lakers within the the top three seeds in the Western Conference. But LeBron and the Lakers needed help from others to get out with a win. Read on to see the underrated star of this game.

Next: Lesson Two

Montrezl Harrell helped LeBron take the Los Angeles Lakers over the top!
Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid were killing the Lakers in the first half dropping nine straight baskets while offensive rebounding was making things worse. In the second half, the Reid/KAT combination fell off the cliff combining for 2 points. The disappearing act by these two in the second half was no coincidence.
Montrezl Harrell gave them both the business in the second half with energy and hustle combined with running them up and down the floor like a maniac!

Trezz making play after play 💥💥
(📺: @SpectrumSN) pic.twitter.com/X3r4VLYW4y
— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) February 17, 2021

The Timberwolves could have won this game if they could hit layups or gotten some rebounds. They couldn’t hit layups worrying about Harrell coming from behind. As for the rebounding, the Minnesota broadcasting team were frustrated watching Trezl crash the boards.
Montrezl Harrell filled the stat sheet with 17 points (5-7 shooting, 7-7 from the line!) and 6 rebounds (3 offensive!), 3 assists with a steal and a block.
One of the questions going forward will be if Frank Vogel moves Harrell to the backup center spot in the rotation. He did well enough against Karl-Anthony Towns. Here was Harrell’s take about defending a much larger player like KAT via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
“I don’t really believe in that smaller stuff, man, because at the end of the day, if you believed in that, the elephant would be the king of the jungle.”
Well there you have it from the NBA’s reigning 6th Man of the Year. Give him the minutes and he’ll guard anyone. Speaking of the award winner, the 6th Man runner-up plays for the Los Angeles Lakers too. Yes! Lake Show Life said it!
Now that Anthony Davis is out there’s one question that will be answered during his time off. Is Dennis Schroder worth the hype or criticism that surrounds this site? The fans that believe Schroder is worth the hype got round one.
Dennis Schroder was doing work!
There will be some readers that are checking their reading glasses or picking themselves from off the floor reading this statement, but it’s true. Dennis Schroder looked like he was going for 40 points in the first quarter dropping his first five shots for 10 points before he broke a sweat. The impressive part was his scoring within the offense and taking what Minnesota gave him.
Schroder finished with 24 points (9-15 shooting!), with 4 steals. He really should’ve had more, but we’ll get to that later. He was in total control when he was on the floor.

Dennis Schröder in his bag 👀 #NBAAllStar pic.twitter.com/QFmeNctylc
— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) February 17, 2021

Even though the Schroder fans are grinning with the “I told you this guy can do this!” thoughts, this is one game that followed two previous clunkers. The Los Angeles Lakers have to get this type of production with some consistency. Then he’s going to have to figure how to play like this when Anthony Davis comes back.
It’s one thing to put up numbers against a backcourt in Ricky Rubio who can’t shoot a lick and a off night from Malik Beasley. The Lakers will need this on Thursday night when Brooklyn rolls out Kyrie Irving who dropped 40 points on Sacramento on 9-11 shots from distance and some dude named James Harden who went crazy in Phoenix.

The Beard sparks 24-point comeback ‼️@JHarden13's 38 PTS, 7 REB, 11 AST and go-ahead three helps the @BrooklynNets storm back from 24 down to beat PHX! #BrooklynTogether pic.twitter.com/o8GfRhidcy
— NBA (@NBA) February 17, 2021

This is even more important considering Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s elevator of confidence is going past the first floor to the basement these days.
To the Lakers fans that are questioning why KCP hasn’t been benched yet, Lake Show Life has this answer. Stop asking. Frank Vogel is not benching KCP. If he didn’t take the man out last year when he scored one point in two games, he won’t now. Frustrated? We don’t blame you, but get used to it. Frank Vogel will have you scratching your heads on rotations for about a month to six weeks. The Los Angeles Lakers rotations are going to drive everyone crazy!
Frank Vogel is probably the only NBA head coach you could take to Las Vegas and trust him with money at the poker table. When this site says that no one knows what Vogel is doing at times with the rotations, we really mean it. It took the entire regular season all the way to the Western Conference semifinals to halfway figure him out last year.

         googletag.cmd.push(function ()
          googletag.defineSlot("/175840252/fansided.com/LakeShowLife/mpu",[300, 250], "minutemedia_slideshow_inline_300x250__desktop__tablet")
           .addService(googletag.pubads());
          googletag.enableServices();
          googletag.display("minutemedia_slideshow_inline_300x250__desktop__tablet");
         );

It will take a lot longer this season folks. Buckle up.
Here’s a perfect example.
Remember when Dennis Schroder had 10 points literally before the first commercial break? Vogel took him out for so long the question went from “Where’s the Dennis Schroder been?” to “Where’s Dennis Schroder at?”.
Sometimes hot players feel the effects of Vogel’s rotations (Remember when KCP was unconscious?). Granted options have to be found with AD out, but if players are on their game early, LEAVE THEM IN!
Dennis Schroder had a 40-piece working. Let’s take this further, LeBron James can’t keep playing 38 minutes a night and shoot like this every night. Here’s some players on the roster that will be shuffling like cards in a Vegas casino.
Kyle Kuzma:
Lakers fans will look at his 7 points and say that he had a bad game. He didn’t. But is he more effective playing against the opponent’s second unit? After watching Kuz destroy teams coming off the bench, should he go back? He played 26 minutes
Markieff Morris:
He knocked down three 3 pointers for 9 points. But it’s plain to see why Vogel does not give him big minutes. Morris sometimes fails to box out and his defensive rotations are horrid. The main thing Lake Show Life wonders is if Frank Vogel the kind of coach that holds grudges for players going to the media grumbling for minutes (A Luke Walton trait that goes on to this day. Ask Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III!)? Remember Keef let his feelings be known about his accumulating DNP-CDs recently. He played 18 minutes.
Wesley Matthews:
Even though Matthews closed out the Lakers 17-5 run to open up a 103-89 with a 3 pointer in the final quarter, Vogel doled out 22 minutes for Matthews? Those were his only points. But his minutes cut into Alex Caruso’s minutes.
Alex Caruso:
Watch this play and ask yourself if he needs more than 18 minutes…

Alex Caruso will never give up on a play. #NBAAllStar
(📺: @SpectrumSN) pic.twitter.com/nUW4cdtNsh
— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) February 17, 2021

Didn’t think so.
Talen Horton-Tucker:
Sorry, brother. Lake Show Life will protest but it’s likely he will be the odd man out.
The Brooklyn Nets come to the Staples Center on Thursday. Kevin Durant MAY be held out, but Kyrie Irving and James Harden will be in the lineup. This is going to be fun.

Next: 10 best Lakers teams of all-time

Lake Show Life has extended its post-game coverage this season!
