The History of Westlife: From I.O.YOU to Wild Dreams

Westlife's story began in 1997, when three schoolmates from Sligo, Ireland - Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan - formed a pop vocal group called I.O.YOU. They released a single called "Together Girl Forever" under Sound Records, but it did not achieve much success.

They then caught the attention of Louis Walsh, the manager of fellow Irish boy band Boyzone. Walsh agreed to manage them along with Ronan Keating from Boyzone. They changed their name to Westside and auditioned for new members in Dublin. They eventually recruited Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden to complete the lineup.
